Best Time to Visit Turkey’s Coast: A Month-by-Month Guide
For a coastal trip that combines beaches and exploring, start by comparing May, June, September and October. Choose between them according to your swimming expectations and tolerance for hot days. A sightseeing trip in winter and a beach holiday in July are different products, even at the same hotel.
Monthly weather: a clearly defined reference
The table below reproduces MGM’s Antalya statistics for the observation period 1930–2025. It describes Antalya, not every Turkish resort, and reports average daily maximum and minimum air temperatures plus average monthly rainfall. It is not a 1991–2020 climate-normal table or a forecast.

January to March: plan around the town
Choose a winter coastal break for what you can do beyond the beach. In Antalya, the historical figures point to cooler days and substantially more rainfall than midsummer. Book accommodation with facilities that make the stay worthwhile on a wet day and check any attraction you plan to visit.
For a short break, a convenient town base can be more useful than a hotel chosen mainly for outdoor pools. Confirm restaurant and transport availability rather than assuming the summer programme continues.
April and May: distinguish warm afternoons from swimming
Spring can suit a mixed itinerary, but a comfortable afternoon does not guarantee comfortable water. If swimming every day is essential, check local sea conditions and ask the hotel about pool heating. Do not read a May air-temperature average as a sea-temperature figure.
Compare Antalya for a city-and-coast trip, then assess your chosen beach and hotel separately. Leave space to move outdoor activities between days.

June to August: organise the day around your priorities
June sits between spring and the highest midsummer averages in the Antalya series. July and August have average daily highs above 34°C in that dataset. These figures do not cap the temperature on an individual day.
For a sightseeing-heavy trip, avoid an itinerary that requires several long outdoor visits back to back. For a hotel-centred stay, check shade, room cooling and how far you must walk to meals and the beach. Compare exact school-holiday dates and inclusions before drawing conclusions about value.
September and October: check the whole booking
September’s Antalya average high remains above 31°C in this series; October is cooler on average and wetter. Neither month is a guarantee of a particular week’s conditions. Look beyond a broad “autumn sun” label and consider whether you would enjoy the trip with a few changed outdoor plans.
For later departures, confirm the closing dates of hotel facilities, beach services and excursions. A hotel accepting reservations does not mean every seasonal feature remains available.
November and December: set a different brief
Choose a winter itinerary deliberately. Compare town access, indoor space and the places you want to explore, then treat beach time as weather-dependent. If your main aim is a guaranteed outdoor-swimming holiday, a destination’s sunny photographs are insufficient evidence.
