The 10 best resorts of Turkey — the Turkish Riviera on the Mediterranean and the Aegean coast. Pick a resort directly or take the quiz to get a personal recommendation.
For a first trip to Turkey most travellers recommend Antalya or Side — solid infrastructure, sandy beaches, convenient flights to Antalya Airport (AYT) and plenty of excursions. For somewhere quieter and greener, look at Kemer or Fethiye.
For cardiovascular issues the Aegean resorts work well — Bodrum, Çeşme and Kuşadası: dry air, the steady meltemi wind and a low dew point (16–18 °C). For asthma and breathing issues Kemer, Belek and Marmaris are best — pine-eucalyptus air softens attacks. Alanya runs an official speleotherapy programme in Damlataş Cave.
The velvet season — May–June and September–October: warm, the sea is around 24–27 °C, without the July humidity. In July–August the Aegean coast is easier to tolerate thanks to the dry meltemi. December–March is low season — most beach hotels are closed.
Side, Belek and Alanya — gentle sandy entry into the sea, water parks and big all-inclusive hotels. For active families with teenagers — Antalya: aquarium, Tahtalı cable car, dolphinariums and dozens of excursions.
The Mediterranean (Antalya, Kemer, Side, Belek, Alanya) has a hot, more humid summer, warm sea from June through October, and a strong all-inclusive infrastructure. The Aegean coast (Bodrum, Çeşme, Kuşadası) has drier air, a steady breeze, a cooler sea, stylish boutique hotels and good wine tourism.
