About Marmaris
Marmaris is an amphitheatre-shaped resort surrounded by pines, with a long bar promenade and one of the largest yacht marinas in the eastern Mediterranean. Marmaris sits in a picturesque bay at the junction of the Aegean and Mediterranean seas, ringed by pine and eucalyptus mountains — hence its cosy "amphitheatre" panorama. Along the eight-kilometre promenade you'll find bars, restaurants and the world-famous Bar Street.
On the other side are the quieter family neighbourhoods of İçmeler and Turunç, where pines descend almost to the water. Despite the closed bay, humidity here is usually lower than in Antalya or Alanya — the drier Aegean Sea makes its presence felt.
Within 1.5–2 hours: Dalyan with its Caretta-Caretta turtles and legendary Lycian rock tombs, Lake Köyceğiz with sulphur-thermal mud baths, and the Greek island of Rhodes (about an hour by ferry).
