Alanya suits a holiday with beach time, a harbour and a castle landscape in the same itinerary. Start by choosing between the Kleopatra side and an eastern beach base, then check the actual hotel address. A property sold as Alanya can be well outside the part of town you pictured.

Location is particularly important when travelling without a car. A central stay with occasional organised outings is a different proposition from a hotel that requires transport whenever you leave its grounds.

Kleopatra Beach and other shoreline choices
GoTürkiye’s Antalya beach guide places Damlataş and Kleopatra beaches west of Alanya Castle. That is useful geography for a shortlist, but it does not establish identical swimming conditions along the whole shoreline. Check the section beside your intended base.
Sand above the waterline does not guarantee a shallow entry or calm water. Ask the property about the route to its beach, the surface at entry, any steps or road crossings and the services included. Look at recent photographs of that exact section rather than a destination-wide promotional image.
If you are staying east of the central peninsula, assess the local beach on its own merits. Travelling to Kleopatra every day may be less appealing than choosing a hotel near the beach you actually want. Families can use the family checklist to compare shade, toilets and the walk back to the room.
The castle, Red Tower and a manageable sightseeing day
Alanya’s official castle guide describes a fortified landscape with buildings from different periods, including the Seljuk complex. For a first sightseeing day, a useful editorial itinerary is to focus on the harbour and Red Tower area, leaving the upper castle visit for a separate part of the day or another morning. Check the route up and down, the walking involved and current opening arrangements before committing to tickets or transport.
Do not assume that a cable-car journey, road transfer or entrance ticket removes all walking at the destination. Compare GZP, Gazipaşa–Alanya, with AYT, Antalya. Flight availability and the hotel’s actual location both matter. Request a transfer quote from each airport to the same address; include the flight time and number of passengers so the offers are comparable.
A shared transfer may include a wait or other hotel stops. Public transport may require a final connection. A private service should specify where you meet and what happens if the flight is delayed. Compare the complete trip cost: flights, baggage, both transfers, room, meals outside the booking and the outings you care about. Alanya is not automatically the cheaper choice for every departure airport or room requirement.
