Turkey in Summer: How Heat, Humidity and Wind Affect Your Trip
For a summer holiday in Turkey, compare the day you will spend outdoors as carefully as the hotel. Air temperature, humidity, sunshine and activity all affect how demanding that day feels. A sea breeze is welcome, but it is not a reason to ignore heat warnings.
Temperature, humidity and wind answer different questions
Air temperature is one measurement. Relative humidity describes moisture in the air; the US National Weather Service explains that higher humidity can reduce the evaporation of sweat. Its heat index combines air temperature and relative humidity, and the published index refers to shade. Direct sunshine changes exposure.
Wind is another part of the experience. A breezy terrace does not establish how a sheltered pool deck or inland archaeological site will feel. Do not turn a resort’s reputation for wind into a medical recommendation or a guarantee that midsummer will be comfortable.

What Antalya’s summer averages show
MGM’s Antalya series for 1930–2025 gives average daily highs of 30.8°C in June, 34.2°C in July and 34.1°C in August. Average lows are 19.7°C, 22.9°C and 22.9°C respectively. These describe one location over its stated observation period, not every coastal resort or the extremes of an individual heatwave.
Use the full seasonal table to compare months. For the actual trip, check the local forecast and official warnings close to departure. Averages cannot settle whether your planned afternoon excursion should go ahead.

NHS guidance recommends shade, light clothing, sun protection, regular cool drinks and avoiding activity that makes you hotter during hot weather. Follow individual medical advice if you have a condition or medicines that affect heat tolerance.
For example, a short morning town visit, lunch near the hotel and an evening harbour walk leaves room to adapt. A distant excursion followed by a fixed afternoon beach-club booking leaves much less room. This is an itinerary design choice, not a promise that any time of day is risk-free.
When changing dates helps the itinerary
If long walks and ruins matter more than a midsummer pool holiday, compare spring and autumn dates before searching for a supposedly heat-proof resort. Read June, September and October, then check the local destination separately.
If school holidays fix your dates, change the schedule, hotel layout and amount of touring. A shorter list of activities can produce a more enjoyable trip than trying to complete a sightseeing itinerary designed for a cooler month.
