Turkey in August: Coastal Weather, Sea and Where to Go
August is a summer stay to organise around comfort during the day and in the room overnight. Treat beach access, shade and cooling as core features; decide on entertainment and excursions after those needs are met.
Weather: Antalya as a defined coastal reference
MGM’s Antalya observations for 1930–2025 give a August average daily high of 34.1°C, an average daily low of 22.9°C and average monthly rainfall of 4.3 mm. These are historical air and rainfall statistics for Antalya. They are not a forecast, sea temperatures or a weather table for the whole of Turkey.

Ask about the room you will sleep in
Confirm how the air-conditioning works, whether it is available overnight and whether controls are individual. Ask which building contains your room category and whether you can request a location suited to your party’s walking needs.
A photograph of the lobby or pool does not answer these questions. For a larger family group, compare the sleeping arrangement and bathroom access as carefully as the star rating.
Keep the day simple enough to change
A morning activity followed by a hotel break and an optional evening outing provides flexibility. Avoid booking consecutive days that each require a long transfer and hours outside. Read the heat guide before choosing an ambitious excursion schedule.
If evening restaurants matter, choose a base with the venues you want within a practical route. A hotel promoted under Bodrum, Marmaris or Alanya can be outside the town area you pictured. Use the individual resort and area guides to check the distinction.
Warm-water expectations still need local checks
The available historical sea series reaches its highest monthly values in August, but it is an old, limited dataset. It cannot describe today’s waves, water quality or the exact swimming spot. See the source and limitations before using the numbers.
If you are comparing August with September, assess the whole arrangement: school dates, prices, operating facilities and how much touring you want. September’s Antalya average high remains above 31°C, so moving the calendar does not automatically remove hot-weather planning.
Compare neighbouring months
If your dates are flexible, compare July and September. Keep the same departure airport, stay length, board basis and room type in your price comparison. A different package is not evidence that one month is always cheaper.
